This café is something of an oddity. Despite visiting on a Saturday, it was almost completely empty, which feels surprising given its central Charlottenburg location. It seems better positioned to serve nearby offices than weekend foot traffic, and that might explain the unusually quiet atmosphere.
The space itself is expansive, easily capable of accommodating dozens of customers, yet it never feels busy. In fact, during a few hours of sitting there, there were never more than a handful of people inside. That contrast between size and emptiness becomes the defining feature of the experience.
In terms of design, it leans heavily towards a generic, chain-like aesthetic. There’s very little character or charm, and it gives off a somewhat soulless impression. At the same time, it’s hard to fault on a practical level. The lighting is comfortable, the furniture is solid, and nothing feels actively unpleasant. If anything, it succeeds in being completely neutral, a space where almost anyone could sit without feeling out of place.
The drinks menu shows a bit more personality, with some creative options like flavoured matcha lattes and a pistachio latte. The mango matcha latte, for example, is an interesting idea, layering sweet mango syrup with a stronger matcha and milk combination. In practice, it doesn’t quite come together, as you need to stir it to balance the flavours, but the attempt at innovation is still appreciated. Smoothies are also on offer, though they lean towards the typical frozen-fruit approach.
Food is serviceable but unremarkable. Pastries are perfectly fine without standing out, and dietary considerations aren’t a strong point. Vegan options are limited, with oat milk as the only plant-based alternative and little clear labelling on food. Gluten-free options are also not clearly addressed, with most items appearing wheat-based.
Where it does perform well is as a workspace. The large tables provide plenty of room for a full setup, including laptops, accessories, and notebooks. Seating varies, with a small number of comfortable bench spots alongside a majority of harder wooden chairs. The sheer size of the café also means you never feel like you’re taking up space, making it easy to stay for extended periods.
During this visit, Wi-Fi wasn’t working, and music was being played from a small speaker at the counter rather than the installed sound system, which gave the whole place an oddly improvised feel. That said, it resulted in a very quiet environment, ideal for focus, even if it’s unclear whether that reflects the usual setup.
Overall, it’s a highly functional but emotionally flat space. Not somewhere you’d seek out for atmosphere, but surprisingly effective if you’re looking for a quiet, spacious place to work without distractions.
