This café stands out immediately for its unusual layout. There’s a kind of bunk-bed-style setup where customers can take their drinks and carefully climb up steep wooden stairs to sit above. The stairs are borderline ladder-like, but still manageable, with enough surface area to feel secure as long as you take your time. It’s a novel idea that adds a sense of playfulness, even if it’s not the most practical for everyone.
Beyond that, the interior is pleasant and easygoing. It doesn’t push any boundaries, especially by Berlin standards, but it doesn’t need to. Solid wood-topped tables and a photo collage along the wall create a space that feels comfortable and thoughtfully put together without trying too hard.
Overall, it’s a café with a memorable twist, offering a cosy, approachable atmosphere with just enough uniqueness to set it apart.

** Due to the unique layout, there are at least enough tables that finding seating shouldn't be much of an issue, even when it's busy. Since it's a small business there is always that feeling that you shouldn't outstay your welcome, but it's less pronounced since they were able to cram more tables in. Tables are larger than most small cafes so lots of room to plonk a laptop and accompanying food and other bits and bobs. Seating, although hard, has enough room to be reasonably comfortable. If you bring your own cushion or sit on your jumper, you'll be all set. There are no plug sockets for charging and wifi is not part of the offering. Finally, points lost to the noise levels. The cafe's clever layout that literally stacks guests on top of each other also has a pitfall in that so many voices in such a small space create quite a cacophony. Not to mention that wherever you sit, you aren't far from the smoothie blenders and coffee grinders.
** Very few options with food, but at least the drinks can be made with a choice of the usual 3 varieties of plant milk
** although the savoury foods all came on top of some kind of bread, in the 'sweets' section there were some clearly labelled gluten free options such as yoghurt or acai bowls
** If you're convinced that bread is a healthy choice then sure, there's quite a lot on offer here. But for the rest, you have an option of an acai bowl, a yoghurt bowl, or bircher muesli. Everything else is pastries, pancakes, cheesecakes, chocolate cakes, french toast, and a few savoury options that are mostly something healthy-sounding on top of bread.
** cannot fault the croissant I had. Remains to be seen how the rest of their selection fares
** Nothing special, especially if you go with one of the plant milk options as they don't hold up very well to the frother. Nevertheless, a decent espresso shot in whatever format you prefer.
