If I could describe Maxway Coffee in one word, it would be 'gloomy.' Perhaps unfortunate that I visited on such a sunny day that by contract the poorly lit interior made me feel I was being deprived of the day. In contrast to the cafe I had visited earlier that day which allowed in enough light to make the whole place feel airy and vibrant. Maxway's dark wood and marble surfaces along with low-key lighting is perhaps better suited to an evening visit than broad daylight where you feel like you've crawled into a cave.
The seating is all stools in the main area so not particularly comfortable. The back area has some more comfortable armchairs for lounging, but to get there you have to go even deeper into the cave until all signs of the outside world disappear. To be fair there is outdoor seating on the street outside which would be the go-to for a lot of people given that the weather is reasonable.
The drinks menu is about as straight-cut as it gets. The core cafe standards and nothing more. Well you can add a little booze to your espresso which is a little out of the ordinary as it's usually served in restaurants and cafe bars. As for food there's a selection of cakes and tarts. If you have any dietary requirements then walk the other way!
Overall Maxway does nothing particularly badly, but nothing particularly well either. It's as middle-of-the-road as you get, which might just be exactly what you're looking for.
