A lovely little gem just down the road from the beautiful Spreebrücke Bellevue. It's a quiet, mostly residential area so you might not expect to find this lovely resting spot. It's mostly geared for lunch so not a pure cafe, but the drinks menu offers all of the lattes and teas you'd expect from a cafe, with the welcome inclusion of a home-made ice tea selection that is sitting invitingly in jugs behind the counter with bits of fruit, mint and other bits and bobs floating inside. The interior is warm and bright with the music lending an upbeat vibe.

The first striking detail is the table layout where there are a handful of large high tables rather than several smaller tables. So when the place is busy you could end up sitting shoulder to shoulder with a stranger, but it's an arrangement that's very flexible and makes a lot of sense in making use of the relatively small interior. When it's quiet you can really spread out on the large tables, and when it's busy you have just enough room to eat and go. The outdoor patio is also quite lovely, nestled between two tall trees and surrounded by pot plants, it would make for a fantastic social spot in the Summer. In other months though the amount of shade given by the trees makes the space quite chilly.

Another outstanding feature is the value for money on offer. At the time of writing, dishes don't exceed 9€ and drinks such as the ice tea can be had for a little over 2€. Being able to have a filling meal with a drink for 11€ in Berlin is absolutely something worth shouting about. Couple this with the inviting decorations and convenient location, there's really not much to complain about here.

Workability

3/5

Not a bad place to set up for a while. Even at peak times it doesn't get so busy that there are no seats left so you don't feel bad about sitting for longer, and when it's quiet you get lots of table space to yourself. The music is also nice and quiet, and since there aren't that many people coming for a coffee, the coffee grinder isn't much in use (when it is though, it is very loud unless you're sitting outside). The high tables are however not terribly comfortable and the lack of toilet facilities means you can only sit as long as your bladder will allow. There's also no wifi and plugs can be found, but they're only there incidentally so you'd have to ask nicely if you'd like to use one.

Vegan Options

2/5

Not an audience they're trying to appeal to at all. If there are vegan options, none of it is labelled. They do offer oat milk with their hot drinks though so at least that's something. I would guess that several of their dishes could be made vegan as they're component-based salads and bowls, but you might end up paying for the ingredients that are removed to accommodate.

Gluten Free Options

4/5

lots of salads and bowls that don't include a shred of gluten. If you're after a hit dish however, those are mostly gluten-y. There's also no mention of which items on the menu are gluten-free so you'd have to ask

Health Focus

4/5

lots of salads and bowls with a good balance of fresh ingredients and protein, they're definitely gunning for the health-conscious crowd. There are still starchy lasagnes, risottos and pastas, so you at least have the flexibility to indulge if that's what you fancy.
